Migration to Atlassian Cloud or Data Center

Plan a low-risk move to the right Atlassian platform

We help organisations assess, plan, test and deliver migrations from Atlassian Server, older self-managed environments and other platforms to Atlassian Cloud.

Atlassian’s current migration journey still follows the same core stages: Assess, Plan, Prep, Test, Migrate and Launch. We design the migration path around your products, users, apps, security model and downtime tolerance, so the move is practical, predictable and aligned with how your teams work.

Choose the right migration path

Cloud migration

Cloud is now the default destination for most Atlassian customers. We help you compare plans, review admin and security requirements, assess app readiness, and plan the move with the right migration tools and timeline. Atlassian provides a Cloud migration assessment, Cloud migration trials for eligible customers, and migration assistants for Jira and Confluence.

Apps and integrations

We audit your Marketplace apps, customisations and integrations early. Atlassian’s app assessment flow is built into the Cloud Migration Assistant so you can see app availability and feature differences before the move.

Users, access and security

We review user management, authentication and organisation setup before migration. Where needed, we help prepare identity and access with Atlassian Guard Standard, which Atlassian now uses for user management and security capabilities in Cloud.

Testing and launch

We prepare a test migration, validate the result with key users, document the runbook and plan the launch so the production move is controlled and easier to support. Atlassian recommends test migrations, UAT, a runbook and a change and launch plan before production cutover.

Why start migration planning now?

Clear destination choice

Compare Cloud and Data Center based on actual requirements, not assumptions. That includes product fit, apps, security, administration and long-term platform direction.

Lower migration risk

Find issues with apps, users, data and process differences early, before they become launch blockers.

Less downtime and disruption

Use staged preparation, test runs and the right migration method to reduce operational risk during cutover.

Better post-migration fit

Launch into a cleaner environment with a better structure, clearer ownership and a more supportable setup.

How we deliver the migration

Assess the current setup and destination

We review your current Atlassian footprint, key processes, app usage, user model and business constraints. Then we determine whether Cloud or Data Center is the right next step, with Cloud as the default long-term route for most organisations. Atlassian provides official comparison and assessment resources for this decision.

Plan the migration method and timeline

We define the migration scope, choose the right method, confirm the timeline and identify the dependencies that affect cutover. Atlassian’s current guidance is to choose the migration method based on both technical and non-technical requirements, and in some cases more than one method is needed.

Prepare users, data, apps and environment

We clean up data, review project and space structure, assess apps, prepare users and groups, and get the target environment ready. Atlassian recommends using this stage to reduce unnecessary data, improve migration quality and shorten downtime.

Test, migrate and launch

We run a test migration, review outcomes, fix issues, complete UAT and prepare the launch runbook. Then we execute the production migration and support the move into the new environment. Atlassian’s test guidance explicitly includes pre-migration checks, test runs, UAT, a runbook and a launch plan.

What we assess before migration

Apps and customisations

We check Marketplace apps, integrations and custom logic to see what can move directly, what needs replacing and what needs redesign.

Users, access and security

We review user directories, groups, permissions, authentication and organisation-level security requirements.

Projects, spaces and data

We analyse Jira project structure, Confluence space structure, storage volumes and data quality before migration starts.

Typical migration scenarios

Letter A

Server to Cloud

For organisations still on Server, the priority is to move to a supported platform and simplify the path to the current Atlassian model.

Letter B

Server to Data Center

For teams that still need self-managed deployment, Data Center can be a practical interim step, with a clear view of the 2029 timeline.

Letter C

Data Center to Cloud

For existing Data Center customers, the focus is on staged planning, app readiness, identity setup, testing and a controlled cloud cutover.

Let’s define the right migration path

Whether you are moving from Server, another solution, or Data Center, we help you define the right target platform and deliver the migration with less risk and clearer decision points.
